The lane or ramp ahead is reserved for trucks and other vehicles that have lost braking control.

Marks an escape ramp or lane intended only for vehicles that have lost their brakes on a steep downgrade. Other drivers must stay out so the ramp remains clear for emergency use by runaway trucks needing to slow and stop in a gravel or sand bed.
