Driver's License Test Prep (Road Ready Press) takes a privacy-first approach. This page explains exactly what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and your rights. Plain language, no legalese.

What we collect, and why

1. Pageviews and basic site behavior

We measure how many people visit each page, where they come from (referrer / search engine / social), what country they're in, and what device they're on (mobile, tablet, desktop). This is collected by:

  • A self-hosted analytics tool (Umami) that does not set cookies and does not store personal data. It cannot link your visits across other sites.
  • Our own first-party event log (site_events) that records actions like page views, quiz starts and completions, and clicks on outbound links to amazon.com. This lets us see what's actually helpful and what isn't.

2. Anonymous visitor IDs

We generate a random ID (a UUID) and store it in your browser's localStorage. This is not a cookie. It lets us count unique visitors and stitch together a single visit across pages without identifying you. Clearing your browser's site storage resets it.

3. Hashed IP addresses (abuse prevention only)

We hash your IP address with a salt that rotates every 24 hours and store only the hash. This lets us deduplicate within a day (so one signup attempt isn't counted as a hundred) but not link your visits across days. We never store your raw IP.

4. Country, inferred from your network

Our hosting provider passes a 2-letter country code based on your IP. We store that for traffic analytics only. We do not perform any finer-grained geolocation.

5. Email and consent metadata (only if you sign up)

If you sign up for our list (for the cheat sheet, the post-quiz study plan, or any other lead magnet) we store:

  • Your email address.
  • Which signup form you used (footer, post-quiz, etc.) and which state you picked.
  • Your IP address and browser user-agent at the moment of signup. This is your record of consent under GDPR / CAN-SPAM.
  • Your marketing-consent flag, defaulting to "yes" because you asked us to email you. You can revoke this any time via the unsubscribe link in any email, or by contacting us directly.

6. Contact-form submissions

If you write to us through the contact form, we store the name, email, topic, optional state context, subject, and message you provided, plus the page you came from, your IP, and your browser user-agent. We also infer an approximate location (city / region / country) from your IP to help us triage. We use this only to read and reply to your message; it isn't shared, and we delete it on request.

7. Receipt uploads (verified buyers only)

If you verify a book purchase to access bonus content, we store the uploaded receipt file and an audit log of the verification result (approved / rejected / queued for manual review). Receipts are used only to verify your purchase and are deleted on request.

What we do not do

  • No cross-site tracking, no advertising cookies, no ad personalization.
  • No third-party trackers (Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, etc.); none of them are loaded on this site.
  • No data sales. Ever. We don't share your data with brokers, advertisers, or anyone else for marketing.
  • No account required to use the free study content.

Email delivery

If you join our list you'll get a welcome email and a short series of study tips and book promotions over the next few weeks. Email delivery is handled by MailerLite; their privacy practices are at mailerlite.com/legal/privacy-policy. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe.

Affiliate / outbound links

Links from our site to amazon.com may include an Associates affiliate tag, in which case we earn a small commission if you buy through that link. Click data is recorded in our first-party event log. We do not share what page you came from with Amazon beyond the standard HTTP referrer.

How long we keep data

  • Hashed IPs: kept indefinitely for de-duplication and abuse defense. Useless after 24 hours since the salt has rotated.
  • Site events: kept indefinitely for trend analysis. Pruned to anonymous-only after 18 months.
  • Subscriber email + consent log: kept while you are subscribed; soft-deleted on unsubscribe and hard-deleted on explicit request.
  • Receipts: kept for the lifetime of your verified-buyer account; deleted on request.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • Confirm what data we hold about you.
  • Send you a copy of it.
  • Correct anything that's wrong.
  • Delete it (we'll honor this within 30 days).

Just contact us from the email address on file. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA; same contact method.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page when our practices change and bump the effective date at the top. Material changes (new third-party processors, new data categories) will also be announced to subscribers by email.
