White Channelizing Line

A white channelizing line is a wide solid white line used to form a neutral area where traffic on both sides travels in the same general direction, such as the gore area at a freeway entrance or exit ramp, a managed-lane access point, or a toll-plaza bypass. It guides drivers into the correct path and keeps them out of the paved neutral zone between a through lane and a ramp or auxiliary lane. Because it is a single solid white line, crossing it is discouraged, so drivers should settle into their lane before reaching the line rather than weaving across it. A channelizing line may also be drawn as a double solid white line, which indicates that crossing is prohibited.
