White Diagonal Crosshatch (Painted Gore / Channelizing Area)

White diagonal stripes inside a white border mark a painted gore or channelizing area separating same-direction traffic streams; stay out of the striped zone.

A triangular or wedge-shaped area outlined in solid white and filled with white diagonal stripes marks a painted gore or channelizing area that separates traffic moving in the same direction, for example where an exit ramp diverges from a freeway. Because the marking is white, both sides of the area carry same-direction traffic. Drivers should stay out of the striped zone and commit to one side or the other before reaching the point of the wedge.
