Solid Yellow Center Line

A solid yellow line separates lanes of traffic moving in opposite directions; do not cross it to pass.

A single solid yellow line down the middle of the roadway separates traffic flowing in opposite directions and tells drivers on your side that passing is restricted. Stay to the right of the line and do not cross it to pass slower vehicles. You may cross a solid yellow line only to make a permitted left turn into a driveway, alley, or side road, and only when it is safe.
