Florida Practice Parking

You are parking on a two-way Florida street with a curb. Which position does state law require?

  1. A.
On either side, whichever is closer
  2. B.
On the right, in the direction of traffic Correct
  3. C.
On the right, facing oncoming traffic
  4. D.
Along the left curb, with traffic
The Why

The answer is "On the right, in the direction of traffic"

Florida requires parking on the right side of a two-way road, headed the same direction as traffic. The left curb is legal only on one-way streets. Choice C catches drivers who carry the pedestrian rule (walk facing traffic) over to a parked car.

Why the others miss

The traps in the wrong answers

A. On either side, whichever is closer

The manual fixes one legal side on a two-way street rather than making it a matter of convenience. This answer treats a curbed two-way street like an empty rural road where pulling onto whichever shoulder is closer feels fine.

C. On the right, facing oncoming traffic

The right side is correct, but a parked vehicle must face the same direction as the traffic beside it, not oncoming traffic. This answer carries the pedestrian rule of walking facing traffic over to a parked vehicle at the curb.

D. Along the left curb, with traffic

The right side is the required side on any two-way road; the left curb is legal only on one-way streets. This answer reads the one-way street exception as blanket permission to use the left curb whenever headed with traffic.
