The manual requires a full stop at a T-intersection, not a merge with flowing traffic. An on-ramp driver used to merging without stopping brings the freeway habit to a T-intersection.
D. Yield only when a yield sign faces you at the corner.
The stop-and-yield duty at a T-intersection applies whether or not a sign is posted. This answer reads the T-intersection duty as one that kicks in only when a sign posts it, since most daily stops are sign-triggered.
