Fire Ahead

Active fire on or near the roadway ahead; slow down, expect smoke, debris, and emergency vehicles.

Used by Utah DOT and other agencies as part of the fluorescent pink incident-management family adopted under MUTCD Section 2L. The panel warns drivers that an active fire (wildfire, vehicle fire, or structure fire) is burning on or adjacent to the road ahead. Reduce speed, expect smoke that can drop visibility to near zero, watch for fire crews and apparatus working in or near the travel lanes, and be ready to merge or stop if traffic is being held.
