Ramp Meter Ahead

A ramp-metering signal controls entry to the freeway ahead.

Posted on freeway entrance ramps where a traffic signal regulates how vehicles merge onto the mainline. Slow as you approach, observe the meter signal, and stop on red; typically only one or two vehicles per green are allowed before the signal cycles again.
