Elk Crossing
Elk may cross the road ahead; watch for large antlered animals, especially at dawn and dusk.
Elk (large antlered members of the deer family) cross the roadway in this area. A bull elk can weigh more than 700 pounds, and a collision is severe for both the animal and the vehicle. Slow down at dawn, dusk, and after dark, scan well into the brush on both shoulders, and remember that elk usually travel in groups.
