Bighorn Sheep Crossing

Bighorn sheep may cross the road in this area; slow down and watch for animals on rocky terrain.

Wild bighorn sheep range across or alongside the highway here, often in mountainous or canyon country. The animals are large, rapid, and may descend onto the roadway from rocks above with little warning. Reduce speed, scan the slopes and shoulders, and be prepared to stop for an entire band rather than a single animal.
