Merge Right (Incident Management)

Lanes ahead are blocked by an incident; merge to the right to get around the obstruction.

Traffic must merge to the right because of an incident ahead (a crash, disabled vehicle, debris, or other temporary blockage) that is closing one or more left-side lanes. Slow down, signal, and merge promptly while watching for emergency responders and tow operators in the affected lanes. The fluorescent pink background is reserved by the MUTCD for traffic-incident-management signs, which are temporary and removed once the incident scene is cleared.
