Merge Left (Incident Management)

Lanes ahead are blocked by an incident; merge to the left to get around the obstruction.

Traffic must merge to the left because of an incident ahead (a crash, disabled vehicle, debris, or other temporary blockage) that is closing one or more right-side lanes. Slow down, signal, and merge promptly while watching for emergency responders working the scene. The fluorescent pink background is reserved by the MUTCD for traffic-incident-management signs, which are deployed only while the incident is active and removed once the scene is cleared.
