Solid White Right Edge Line

Solid white line marks the right edge of the travel lane and the start of the shoulder.

A solid white line along the right side of the roadway marks the right edge of the travel lane and the boundary with the shoulder. Drivers should keep the line on their left in normal driving. Crossing it onto the shoulder is generally limited to emergencies, disabled vehicles, or where local law specifically allows it.
