Railroad Crossing Pavement Marking

Railroad tracks ahead; slow down, look both ways, and be prepared to stop for trains.

A large white X flanked by the letters R-R, with a transverse stop line ahead of the tracks, warns drivers that a railroad crossing is just ahead. Reduce speed, look and listen for trains, and never start across the tracks unless you have room to clear them on the far side. If gates lower or lights flash, stop behind the stop line and wait until the signals stop and the gates fully rise.
