Driver's License Test Prep
New York Practice Licensing Process

The Class D written test includes four road-sign questions. To pass overall, at least how many of those road-sign questions must you answer correctly?

  1. A.
    Every road-sign question.
  2. B.
    At least one.
  3. C.
    A minimum of three.
  4. D.
    At least two. Correct
The Why

The answer is "At least two."

The manual requires at least two of the four road-sign questions correct on top of the overall passing score. Learners who choose three are borrowing the 'majority right' rule of thumb from subject-area cutoffs used in private prep programs.

Why the others miss

The traps in the wrong answers

A. Every road-sign question.

A perfect road-sign subset is not required. This answer treats road-sign questions as pass-fail on any single miss.

B. At least one.

One correct falls below the road-sign floor. This answer reaches for a 'one right is enough' rule the manual never states.

C. A minimum of three.

Three is above the manual's required minimum. This answer imports a 75 percent subject-area rule common in private prep programs.
