HOV lane
Also known as: high occupancy vehicle lane, carpool lane, diamond lane, HOV
A lane reserved for vehicles carrying a minimum number of occupants (commonly two or three), often marked by a white diamond symbol painted on the pavement. Hours of restriction, occupancy minimums, and entry and exit points are posted on signs and vary by location.
