Work Zone Fines Double For Speeding May Exceed $600

Speeding fines are doubled in the work zone and may exceed $600.

A Utah DOT enforcement plaque used at the start of a construction zone to put a dollar figure on the doubled penalty. Speeding citations issued within the zone may run more than $600 once the doubling and surcharges are applied. The threat of a steep fine is intended to keep traffic at the posted reduced speed through the active work area.
