Fresh Oil and Chips
The road ahead has been treated with liquid asphalt and loose stone; drive with care.
A chip-seal surface treatment has just been applied: a layer of liquid asphalt is covered with loose aggregate that vehicle tires press into place. Loose stones can fly up and crack windshields, the surface is slippery, and tires can pick up tar. Reduce speed sharply, increase following distance, and avoid sudden braking or swerving.
