Flagger Ahead

A flagger is directing traffic ahead; slow down and obey hand signals.

A flagger is stationed in the work zone ahead to control traffic flow through a closed lane, equipment crossing, or active work area. Watch for the worker's STOP/SLOW paddle or hand signals and follow them; flagger directions override signs, signals, and posted speed limits. Reduce speed on approach and be ready to stop.
