Flagger Ahead

A flagger is directing traffic ahead, and you must obey that person's signals.

W20-7 is the symbol sign for a flagger, shown as a worker holding a signal paddle. A flagger's directions legally override the pavement markings, the posted speed limit, and even a traffic light, so if the flagger tells you to stop on green or to drive on the wrong side of the centerline, that is the instruction you follow. Slow down as soon as you see this sign and be prepared to stop, because the flagger may be just past a curve or over a rise.
