Merge Here Take Turns (Work Zone)

Marks the merge point in a work-zone lane closure; vehicles from both lanes alternate one-for-one.

Posted at the taper where two lanes reduce to one, this directs drivers in both lanes to merge at this location and to alternate (one vehicle from each lane at a time) through the closure. The zipper-style merge keeps queues shorter and traffic moving more evenly than letting one lane back up while the other empties. Match speed with the lane you are joining and leave room for the alternating vehicle.
