Low Shoulder (Work Zone)

The shoulder sits below the level of the travel lane; stay on the pavement.

The shoulder is several inches lower than the travel lane, creating a lip at the edge of the pavement. A tire that drops off the edge can grab and pull the vehicle out of its lane, especially during a quick steering correction. Keep your tires on the pavement, and if you do drift right, slow down before easing back onto the road.
