Rough Road (Work Zone)

The pavement ahead is broken, patched, or uneven; reduce speed for the rough surface.

The roadway through the work zone is broken, heavily patched, or otherwise uneven enough to upset a vehicle at normal speed. Slow down, hold the wheel firmly, and keep extra distance from the vehicle ahead so you can react to potholes, dips, or sudden braking.
