Metal Bridge Deck (Work Zone)
The bridge deck ahead is a metal grate or plate; expect reduced traction, especially when wet.
The roadway crosses a steel grid or plated bridge deck rather than asphalt or concrete. Metal surfaces are slick when wet, icy, or oily, and can cause tires (especially on motorcycles) to wander and feel imprecise. Slow down before reaching the deck, hold a steady line, and avoid braking or sharp steering inputs while crossing.
