Uneven Lanes (Work Zone)

Adjacent travel lanes are at different elevations through the work zone; change lanes carefully and watch the drop-off.

Paving or milling has left adjacent lanes at different heights, so the edge between them is a vertical lip rather than a flush stripe. Slow down before changing lanes, cross the lip at a shallow angle, and keep both hands firmly on the wheel; abrupt steering on an uneven seam can pull the tires sideways. Motorcyclists are especially vulnerable and should give themselves extra space and time.
