Lane Ends Merge Left (Work Zone)

In the work zone ahead the right lane ends; merge left before the lanes converge.

Through a construction or maintenance area the right-hand lane is closed and traffic from it must merge into the left lane. Drivers in the ending lane should signal, match the speed of traffic in the through lane, and complete the merge before reaching the taper. Drivers already in the continuing lane should leave room rather than racing to close the gap.
