Driver's License Test Prep
Pennsylvania Practice Graduated Licensing

You are 17 and received your learner's permit today. How soon may you take the Road Test?

  1. A.
Six months after the permit issue date Correct
  2. B.
Immediately after logging the required hours
  3. C.
As soon as a certified instructor signs off
  4. D.
Whenever an appointment slot opens up
The Why

The answer is "Six months after the permit issue date"

Two conditions gate the Road Test for a driver under 18: a mandatory six-month wait from the permit issue date, and the signed certificate for the 65 hours. Finishing the hours early does not shorten the wait. The clock and the logbook run side by side.

Why the others miss

The traps in the wrong answers

B. Immediately after logging the required hours

Completing the hours satisfies only one of the two conditions. This answer reads the requirement as a single finish line rather than two that must both be met.

C. As soon as a certified instructor signs off

No instructor signature can shorten the mandatory waiting period. This answer assumes a professional endorsement outranks a fixed calendar rule.

D. Whenever an appointment slot opens up

Appointments may be scheduled early, but the test date cannot fall before the eligibility date. This answer confuses being allowed to book ahead with being allowed to test ahead.
