Stay to the right in your lane and adjust your speed so the passing driver can move back into the right lane safely as soon as possible. Do not use your hands or lights to signal the other driver when to pass; Oregon law specifically prohibits flashing any of your signals at drivers to let them know when to pass. The flash-your-highs habit behind D reads as courteous but is exactly the light-signal the manual forbids.
The traps in the wrong answers
A. Move onto the shoulder so the passer can use your lane.
The manual says stay to the right within your lane; the shoulder is not a travel lane. This answer confuses 'stay to the right' inside your lane with leaving the lane to use the shoulder.
B. Speed up so the passer can't complete the pass.
Speeding up to obstruct a pass is unsafe and contrary to the manual's rule. This answer treats 'adjust your speed' as license to block the pass rather than help the other vehicle complete it.
D. Flash your high beams to indicate the road ahead is clear.
The manual says Oregon law prohibits flashing your signals at drivers to let them know when to pass. This answer confuses helping a pass with signaling by lights, which the manual specifically forbids.
