You may not park within 15 feet of a fire-station driveway entrance on the same side of the street, or within 75 feet on the opposite side. The opposite-side number is wider because emergency vehicles often need room to swing across the road on exit. Two distances, one rule: 15 feet same-side, 75 feet opposite-side. Don't confuse this with the 10-foot fire-hydrant rule, which is a separate fire-safety distance with its own threshold.
The traps in the wrong answers
A. 10 feet.
10 feet is the manual's no-parking distance from a fire hydrant, not from a fire-station driveway. The fire-station same-side rule is 15 feet. Misreading: Confuses the 10-foot fire-hydrant rule with the fire-station driveway same-side distance, conflating two separate fire-safety thresholds.
C. 50 feet.
50 feet is the manual's distance for the nearest rail of a railroad crossing, and for a traffic signal or sign your vehicle hides from view, not for a fire-station driveway on the same side. Misreading: Borrows the 50-foot railroad-crossing or obscured-signal distance and applies it to the fire-station same-side rule.
D. 75 feet.
75 feet is the OPPOSITE-side fire-station distance, not the same-side distance. The same-side rule is 15 feet. Misreading: Swaps the opposite-side 75-foot fire-station distance for the same-side 15-foot distance.
