On which side of a two-way street does the manual tell you to park?
-
A.
The right side of the road. Correct
-
B.
The left side, facing oncoming traffic.
-
C.
The side you turned from most recently.
-
D.
Either side, provided a space is open.
The answer is "The right side of the road."
The manual tells you to park on the right side of the road on any two-way street; the left side is reserved for one-way streets. The trap is B. The one-way-street exception is the only place in the parking section that mentions the left side, and drivers who carry that exception onto a two-way street land on it.
The traps in the wrong answers
B. The left side, facing oncoming traffic.
Puts the car against the left curb of a two-way street, which the manual reserves for one-way streets only. This answer reads the one-way-street exception as if it applied to every road.
C. The side you turned from most recently.
Treats parking position as a mirror of the direction you came from. This answer invents a 'park on the side you turned from' rule the parking section does not use.
D. Either side, provided a space is open.
Reads the parking section as making side-of-street optional whenever a space is open. This answer lets the convenience of an open space override the fixed right-side rule.
