You are 25 years old and convicted of a DUI while driving in another state. What does the manual say happens to your New York driver license?
-
A.
Revoked for at least 90 days. Correct
-
B.
Suspended for 30 days after you return.
-
C.
No effect on the license.
-
D.
Permanent revocation on the first offense.
The answer is "Revoked for at least 90 days."
An adult convicted of a DUI in another state or in Canada loses the New York license to revocation for at least 90 days. Drivers pick 'no effect' because the manual says out-of-state moving-violation points are not added to a New York record; they carry that exception over and assume alcohol convictions are treated the same way, which they are not.
The traps in the wrong answers
B. Suspended for 30 days after you return.
The manual specifies revocation, not a short suspension, and sets the floor at 90 days. This answer guesses a lighter administrative sanction rather than reading the fixed 90-day floor.
C. No effect on the license.
Alcohol convictions from any state (plus Canada) do carry over to your New York license. This answer extends the out-of-state points exception to alcohol convictions, which the manual carves out separately.
D. Permanent revocation on the first offense.
Permanent denial requires the lifetime record-review rules, not a single out-of-state DUI. This answer applies the repeat-offender lifetime consequences to what is only a first out-of-state DUI.
