Nevada Practice Graduated Licensing

Nevada teens within 30 miles of a DMV-approved driver's education school must complete how much supervised behind-the-wheel driving?

  1. A.
    30 hours, 5 at night
  2. B.
50 hours, 10 at night Correct
  3. C.
    75 hours, 15 at night
  4. D.
100 hours, 20 in the dark
The Why

The answer is "50 hours, 10 at night"

Teens who live within 30 miles of a DMV-approved driver's education school are required to complete 50 hours of supervised experience behind the wheel, with 10 of those hours completed at night.

Why the others miss

The traps in the wrong answers

A. 30 hours, 5 at night

Undershoots the required hours; the manual sets the requirement at 50 hours, with 10 at night. The total falls 20 hours short, and the 5 night hours is only half of the required 10. Halves the 10-hour night requirement and lowers the total to a figure some teens misremember as the actual rule.

C. 75 hours, 15 at night

Overshoots the required hours; the manual sets the requirement at 50 hours, not 75. This inflates the 50-hour total by 25 hours. Inflates both figures by half, as if Nevada set a stricter version of the 50-hour rule.

D. 100 hours, 20 in the dark

Confuses the standard 50-hour rule with the 100-hour fallback, which applies only to teens who are both outside the 30-mile radius and cannot access online driver's education. That fallback also requires just 10 hours in the dark, not 20. Assumes the 100-hour fallback also doubles the night-driving hours, as if the stricter total scales every figure up proportionally.
