Graduated Driver Licensing
Also known as: GDL, graduated license, graduated licensing, provisional licensing, teen licensing
A multi-stage licensing system that phases new drivers (typically teens) through a learner permit, an intermediate or provisional license, and a full license. Each stage adds privileges as the driver gains experience, and intermediate stages usually restrict night driving and the number of passengers under a certain age.
