The traps in the wrong answers
A. 1,000 feet
The manual sets 500 feet as the sight-line floor on a hill or curve, not 1,000. This answer doubles the sight-line requirement on a more-must-be-safer hunch, or carries over a longer figure from another rule.
B. 100 feet
The 100-foot figure is the no-pass buffer around intersections, bridges, tunnels, and railroad crossings, not the sight-line minimum on a hill or curve. This answer confuses the 100-foot no-pass zone around intersections and bridges with the sight-distance rule for hills and curves.
C. 200 feet
The 200-foot figure is how close you may come to an oncoming vehicle before returning to the right lane, not the sight distance the rule sets for a hill or curve. This answer substitutes the 200-foot return-to-lane cushion for the sight distance needed before pulling out to pass.
